Quotes:
“Greatness is being able to harness what that is you were put here to do and use that as a way to gather that light in you and spread it all around.”
“In my quest to heal and to work through stuff, things started falling into place and I had what I needed to tell my story. Because it helps when you can be like this is where I was and this is where I am now. And I feel that way spiritually, physically and mentally I am just too glad to be here, not be here, and be over here.”
“Sometimes you will find that following your passion will help you deal with [your story], [your passion] is a part of that healing.”
“Let's also talk about how we could take what we always dreamed of doing and turn it into a passion to create an income or even just a way to have peace.”

PODCAST RECOMMENDATION
Some of you may have heard a big part of my story on how I started this podcast. During my day job I get to listen to podcasts all day long. The ones I really enjoy are ones that encompass someone’s story and their passion(s). Since I am an avid podcast listener I wanted to start sharing podcasts and podcast episodes that I have enjoyed and that I think you will enjoy as well.
This week I want to share with you a podcast called You’re Wrong About. This podcast is hosted by journalists Michael Hobbs and Sarah Marshall who are obsessed with the past. Each week they reconsider a person or event that's been miscast in the public imagination. During this past September through November they took a five episode deep dive into the life of Princess Diana. As a novice fan of the royals I found this to be an interesting take with some facts and background that I did not know about before.

Episode 30: Kelsey Kemp
Tuesday Jan 12, 2021
Tuesday Jan 12, 2021
Listeners welcome to our 30th episode, our first episode of 2021! On the podcast we have Kelsey Kemp. Kelsey is an eighth generation Texan. Growing up Kelsey practiced ballet. She took ballet so seriously that began a program where she trained in the morning and evening and began homeschooling in between times. Around the age of 16 Kelsey began a youtube channel basically a content marketing that her twin still runs today and at the same time Kelsey also began a customizable ballet bag business. During her time attending a ballet boarding school Kelsey got severely hurt and was told by doctors that she could no longer practice ballet. As you would imagine Kelsey was completely devastated that her one passion was now gone. Kelsey yearned to find something that she could be as passionate as she was about ballet. She did all of the career tests and personality tests and pondered what was next. Then through series events, not being content with her job, explaining to close friends her ideas, not wanting to be seen as failing, Kelsey took her next step with her passion of career coaching.

The ones I really enjoy are ones that encompass someone’s story and their passion(s). Since I am an avid podcast listener I wanted to start sharing podcasts and podcast episodes that I have enjoyed and that I think you will enjoy as well.
This week I want to share with you episode #333 from Jamie Ivey’s podcast called The Happy Hour. In this episode Jamie has a psychotherapist, Enneagram teacher, and host of the popular podcast, Typology....have you guessed who it is yet? Ian Morgan Cron, author of the best-selling book, The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery.
I have heard several episodes and interviews with Ian Morgan Cron explaining different aspects of the enneagram, this episode is different because Ian highlights several ideas that surround his life’s work. One idea that I enjoyed from the podcast was when he talked about the importance of taking a sacred pause when emotions are high. Using a sacred pause to evaluate what is going on within myself before responding whether that be in person or online.
Ian said, “You are the mountain not the weather.” Meaning when it comes to feelings you are the mountain and your feelings are the wind and the weather. He highlighted the idea that feelings don’t need to hold on for a long time, he suggested that we keep it for when we do and let go of it when we need to.

She shares about her passion for sports and how she thought and dreamed of going to the olympics when she was a young gymnast and then how quickly that reality pivoted when that dream came crashing down. Her passion for sports led her to her college major of Physical Education and that funneled her to student teach and then become a teacher in China. Our episode sponsor is future, coming soon guest of the podcast, Taylor Rambo’s new book Wreckless Grace: A Journey to Bold Forgiveness.
What if our grace was reckless? What if we received and extended the kind of grace that didn't make sense? The kind of grace that was out of the ordinary? The kind of grace that changed the world. One that changed lives.
Wreckless Grace is a redemptive journey that will encourage and inspire you to step into the grace you are called to live in - leading you to a life of perseverance, compassionate love, ridiculous grace, and boldness - so that you can live out your purpose.
One of my favorite quotes from Taylor’s book says, “When we live boldly, we are able to accomplish the very things fear tells us we can’t.” Taylor’s book and story unpack this idea much more. This idea of the connection between boldness and forgiveness that can lead you to be able to achieve and conquer the very things that fear is telling you you cannot do.
Wreckless Grace is available for purchase now on Amazon in paperback and ebook. Grab your copy today and let's travel this journey together.

Episode 24: Kaila Yim
Tuesday Oct 06, 2020
Tuesday Oct 06, 2020
Kaila is our 24th guest on the No Wrong Turns Pod! She is from California and grew up being very close to her family, her cousins and grandparents. Once Kaila gave her life to Christ at age 14 during her freshman year she began spending most all of her free time at church. She loved being involved in youth group and volunteering to help wherever she could at church. Kaila walks us through her college application journey which began with her not wanting to go to college because she did not think there was a major that she felt passionate about. With her mom’s urging she then literally went from Googling Moody to completing her application all within a 6 hour timeframe! Throughout this conversation Kaila shares with us the importance that discipleship and mentorship played in her life. How when she went to college she was working through her parents getting a divorce and how discipleship and mentorship from other women played a crucial part in her walking through and processing this big life change. In Kaila’s story she highlights her passions of discipleship & mentorship, youth ministry and missions.
Here are some great quotes from Kaila:
“Recognize the ways that God has created you and use that for the Kingdom.”
“The Lord can you use, your personality, your gifting. And to not discredit those or not to look down on something that is really a gift. Those things that I thought were bad qualities is what God has used more in my ministry and discipleship.”
“The way that Lord created me was a gift in and of itself.”

“When we get to Heaven, I want God to show what I did with the 10% gift He gave, I hope that I honored that.”
“Time is actually your friend if you are willing to ride it out and be faithful and show up a lot of good can come from that.”
“Let's pour into your passions and follow those, even if at the end of the day it is not for a paycheck, honor your passions and give them space to grow.”
“Who are you waiting to validate your passion?”
“God can be glorified in the thing that is not extraordinary.”
“What is a small thing that you can do well and what is a small thing that can be useful and seeing where that goes. That is important thing, we should all be idealistic and dream big. If we can act in small ways and if we can be mirco focused then we are just saying that we just want to be extoradary for ourselves and that is not good either.”
